Are we having fun yet? ❄️🌤️

Hi Reader,

It’s almost February—and now we’re fully in it. The start-of-the-year energy has faded, and 2026 is rolling right along. For those of us in the Northeast, it’s cold. There’s snow on the ground, with more on the way.

And yet… the days are getting longer. Slowly but surely, the sun sets a little later each evening.

That’s what we need to remember.
(And yes—what I need to remember too.)

Consistency matters.

It’s not always fun.
It’s rarely glamorous.

But consistency—the small, steady things we do over time—can be life-changing.

For example:

  • $20 added to a high-yield savings account every biweekly paycheck = $520 per year (plus interest)
  • $520 per year over 5 years = $2,600 (plus interest)

Nothing flashy. Just steady.

So as February begins, ask yourself:
What small thing could I start—or restart—that will build over time?

Here are a few everyday examples:

  • A 15-minute walk each day = about 1.75 hours of movement each week
  • Saving $7 per week (roughly $1 a day) = $365 in one year

Or maybe:

  • 10 minutes of stretching before bed = over 60 hours of care for your body in a year
  • Reading 5 pages a day = about 6–8 books a year, without ever feeling overwhelming

Now think about what happens when we decrease certain habits.

  • 1 hour of screen time vs. 4 hours per day
➡ That’s the difference between 7 hours per week and 28 hours per week.
  • Checking email twice a day instead of constantly = fewer interruptions and more mental space

And then there are simple swaps.

We often underestimate how much the little things add up.

For example:

  • Cancel a subscription you barely use and redirect that money toward something you truly enjoy—or toward savings.
  • Swap one takeout meal a week for something simple at home and use the difference to fund a future trip, class, or experience.
  • Trade impulse online shopping for a 24-hour pause rule—and let more of your money stay where you intended it to go.

Small shifts. Same life. Different outcomes.

So as the sun continues to set a little later each day, consider what you can do—daily or weekly—to make things feel just a little brighter in your life. 😉
